Meets & Events 2017 - 2018            NEXT MEET/EVENT HERE
Newcomers' Guide to Hunting with Bloodhounds

The 2017 - 2018 hunting season started on May1st 2017.  Hunting does not start until after the harvest is well under way August/September. The Masters try to arrange a meet for every Sunday, or occasionally Saturday if it’s clashing with some other local event, or it is the landowner’s preferred day.  The Meets/Events page will be updated as soon as arrangements are confirmed. Next meet here.

Riders are strongly advised to "book in" leaving their name and contact details by text or phone to 07723096634 or email to
booking@SouthDownsBloodhounds.com if they think they would like to come mounted - so that they can be kept advised of any last minute changes of plans.
If you have hunting dress then we would like you to wear it, but the lack of formal attire is no barrier to hunting with us. More information is available on our Newcomers' guide and/or the Etiquette page. Competent children and children with adults accompanying them are welcome. All are welcome and any slobber you get from the hounds you may keep!

Underlined meets will take you to a location map.

Sunday 21st January MEET CHANGE
Due to the forecast of constant heavy rain, the planned meet has been cancelled. Fortunately we have kindly been given access to some stubble at Hurst Farm so, as hounds and hunt horses have to be exercised anyway, we have put in place the following plan. Hounds will leave the bottom of the kennels drive at 12 noon. They will hack to Hurst Farm where there will be one longish hunt on the stubble, with no jumps. Hounds will then hack to the back entrance of the kennels and have one more short hunt. Anyone wishing to attend may do so parking their 4x4 trailers off road on roadside verges in Alexanders or Claypits Lanes (at the bottom of the drive) as long as they are ready to ride away at 12 noon prompt. The roadside verges are NOT suitable for lorries, so if you want to come in a lorry (rear unload only) please contact Jeremy about parking in his drive. Lorries will need to reverse into the drive, which is why side unload cannot be accommodated. There is no need to plait, nor do you need to wear hunting attire. Indeed you are advised to wear wet weather clothing. As this will be the equivalent of a tubhunting meet, training meet caps (charges) will apply, and should be handed to Amanda on the way to the first hunt.
